Similarities Between The Great Gatsby And The Crucible

In both The Great Gatsby and The Crucible, the themes used in both books compared quite closely. Adultery, Reputation, and Desire were all used very heavily. Both authors saw that in these time periods these particular themes were quite popular. First with Adultery, in The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald clearly made his point about the amount of Adultery during his time period. Throughout the book, Tom cheated on Daisy with multiple women, multiple times. Daisy is aware of his betrayal because on pg. 17 she says to Nick " I'm glad it's a girl. And I hope she be a fool (chapter 1)". In The Crucible, two of the main characters, John Proctor and Abigail Williams, had an affair. Abigail tries to kill John's wife so that she can take her place
