The Nye/Ham second debate relates to the previous discussion in class about Creationism because of the beliefs discussed in the power point that relate closely to Ken Ham’s views in the debate. Creationism is a belief under the religion of Christianity that humans, animals and earth were created by God. Christians get this evidence from the chapter of Genesis in the Bible. Ken Ham, a born again Christian, created a creationist museum shaped as Noah’ Ark for Christians/Creationist all over the world to view realistic figures and facts covered by the Bible. However, Creationist have confidence in fossil records attributing from the flood caused by Noah’s Ark and the time after because of God’s word in Genesis. Bill Nye, in the debate, thinks this claim is false. He has personally seen and aged fossils that age back to millions of years ago. Nye also keeps encouraging the audience around Ham and him to visit the National Museum of American History to see the evidence of old fossils personally. In addition, Bill Nye backs his side of the debate on the earth’s age with tree rings. He describes how if someone counts the number of rings inside the tree, that it estimated to approximately one year. Nye claims he has counted rings past 6,000 years old, thus disproving creationist’s theories about the age of the earth. In the debate video, Ken Ham’s argument against Bill Nye’s evidence is that each ring doesn’t exactly mean one year when counting tree rings. Creationist also claim that according to Genesis, dinosaurs were existing at the same time of children. In the PowerPoint presentation, the title is a picture of a girl with a dinosaur from the creationist museum. Ken Ham proudly supports this theory by many displays of dinosaurs in the museum to remind Christians of this theory in Genesis. Bill Nye makes a a spectacle out of this theory, Again, Bill Nye discusses about dinosaur fossils dated back millions of years ago and to go visit secular
