The Songhai and Inca Empires began in the middle of the 1400’s. The Songhai Empire was an African empire originally governed by Mali Islamic Rulers, and commonly relied on farming, fishing, and livestock to maintain the health of its people. The Inca Empire was an American empire that began along the Andean region of Western South America where they relied entirely on farming, although the farmers were very low rank and unappreciated throughout the empire. The indigenous African empire, Songhai and the indigenous American empire, Inca possessed many similarities and differences throughout their rise and falls as empires. For an example of a philosophical difference between the empires is, while the Songhai empire was predominantly muslim, the Incas worshipped a God called Viracocha. However unlike the Incas, the Songhai empire obtained a religious freedom policy which authorized each person to decide religion for themselves. As for their economics, the Songhai empire was also able to rely on their fishing and livestock to provide food. While the Inca were only provided by their farming, which again was provided by the most unappreciated people in the empire. On geography, the Songhai empire was native to the Dendi region of Nigeria, but the Inca were located by the Andean region of Western South America. The Songhai empire was ruled by absolute monarchy and the Inca empire was ruled by their high governmental people such as their supreme Inca ruler, governors, and administrators. On a sociological stance, government related people often played the largest roles in the Songhai empire, often leaving the women, children, and slaves for the dump work.
