Massachusetts and Nevada are different in many ways when it comes to their government. From the number of terms one is able to serve in a certain position to the qualifications to become a voter both states have their own way of running themselves. It’s interesting to see how states governments can vary when it comes to local government and political parties and support programs for their residents.
In Nevada, the Governor of the State of Nevada is the highest state office. He is elected every four years can only serve two terms. Similar to Nevada, elections are held every four years and is able to serve for two terms. Contrary to Nevada’s qualifications, to qualify as a candidate, a person must be a Massachusetts resident for at least seven years and become a registered elector in the state.
The upper house is the Massachusetts State Senate and it has 40 members. The lower body, which is the Massachusetts House of Representatives, has 160 members. State Senators and Representatives are able to serve two-year terms. Starting this month (April), Massachusetts is one of 19 states that is under divided government so they are not one of the state government trifectas.
