Ellsworth Toohey and Gail Wynand played great roles as antagonists in the novel called The Fountainhead. Both of them spent much of their lives seeking a very selective form of truth which was a lie. They tried to control human thoughts, change people's points of view, and have superiority over others lives. But their quest for power wasn’t the same as both of their personality was unique. Ellsworth Toohey states a fact that people corrupts power. He learned to manipulate as a child and turned it into a talent by the time he graduated from college. While Ellsworth Toohey was crazily seeking power and having followers through corruption, Roark never left his integrity. He never wanted to control others not even his lover, Dominique. He believed in creating invention to make the world beautiful, when Toohey wanted to take away all the attractive and influencing things from the world. He was motivated by his own talents, not like Toohey who was motivated by his greed for power. Roark was all about individualism, while Toohey was fond of collectivism. Roark believed in the power of himself, but Toohey believed in the principle of giving a group priority over each individual in it. Gail Wynand had many differences as well as similarities with Roark. Gail was motivated by the corrupt world and he made his goals as corrupt as he thought of the world. Roark was also influenced by the corrupt world and he tried his best to stay away from the corrupt world. He saved his ideas and worked on them as honestly as he could. Roark decided to fight the world that came into his way, but Gail Wynand did not have the courage and confidence in him to do
