Jefferson Memorial, located in Washington DC is a representative America structure that was dedicated to Thomas Jefferson in 1943. The memorial is measured to be 39.3 high with a dome of 1.2m thick. This architecture is designed by John Russell Pope and incorporated the Jefferson’s’ architectural taste. While the Pantheon has seven Roman god statues, which the Romans worshipped at the time, Jefferson Memorial has the statue of Jefferson, which dominates the memorial. The 19 foot tall statue made of bronze is facing towards the White House. Alongside him, there are writings and inspirational words to show his dedication to his own country and to his people. As this memorial is dedicated solely to Thomas Jefferson, the statue focuses and well portrays the importance of the memorial. The standing image symbolizes the Age of Enlightenment and Jefferson as a great philosopher and leader during his life. This indicates that even though the purpose of dedication is similar in the Pantheon and Jefferson Memorial, the fact that pantheon is dedicated to gods for religious purposes and Jefferson Memorial is dedicated to himself praising his contribution to the country makes it different between two
