The moral decline of Rome, is said to be a factor in its fall, but clearly there was much more that contributed to the deterioration and fall of Rome. As was stated in our text, if this were the key cause of their fall, Rome could not have remained as long as it did. Nonetheless, I would agree that the immorality of the emperors and others of noble richness certainly cost Rome a great deal. Not only was much wealth wasted upon lavishing drunken parties and prostitutes, but lives were lost in the name of amusement as the fighting of gladiators covered the grounds in blood.
