While without the creative mind of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, there would be no great detective Sherlock Holmes. Doyle created not only a detective but, the world’s famous fictional character (shmoop.com.) By looking at A Study in Scarlet one can see that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle included the themes of revenge and friendship because those are the most valuable aspects in life. He was known and is still known for his literature and arts as his family was indeed too. Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 22, 1859. His full name is Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, which his name had later changed to just Sir Arthur Conan Doyle when he was knighted by King Edward the VII (biography.com.) Doyle lived with his mother and father, whom were known for their fantastic literature and arts. Awhile back they had been friends, and haven’t seen each other since then. Watson and Stamford converse about their problematic situations, when Stamford had been aware he found a solution to Watsons need for new residency. Stamford had described an incompetent scientist, Sherlock Holmes, whom is looking for a roommate to share his rooms with. Homes has two rooms available for himself and anyone else at 221B Baker Street. Stamford had found Holmes to me a little crazy and humorous at points in time, such as when Stamford had caught Holmes punching a cadaver to see if any signs of bruising would occur after death. Watson had become very intriguing in this man Stamford had been describing, and had asked to visit Sherlock Homes in his apartment. Watson had found Holmes an “amazingly contradictory man, one who knows nothing at all of literature, philosophy, or astronomy, but has a profound knowledge of chemistry, anatomy, and sensational crime stories”
