The animal characters in this book represent torture that sir gawain experienced while resisting Morgana. The deer in this book represented the struggle Sir Gawain had faced when he was getting pierced with arrows of temptation by Morgana and when he declined words of wisdom even though it troubled him inside. The boar is the temptation as Sir Gawain makes himself vulnerable to the words Morgana speaks to him.
