Sitting Bull was a famous Sioux chief and also known as a brave soldier who was leading Sioux to fight for freedom and land. The famous battle of Sitting Bull was the Battle of Little Bighorn, Red Cloud’s War and the Great Sioux War of 1876 (Historynet.com). He still is respected as a hero in Indian nation today, and because his courage to fight, the invader were not seized the territory wantonly. Sitting Bull was born in South Dakota of 1831 and he was living in Hunkpapa Lakota tribe. As the son of a respectful Sioux fighter, Sitting Bull did show his outstanding talent when he was a young child. So Sitting Bull was called “Slow” in Sioux. However, he killed his first buffalo when he was 10. Later, he attended the battle against a rival clan (Biography.com). However, Sitting Bull disagreed with this treaty because he did not want to sell the land, and soon he gained many followers not only the Sioux. Therefore, the federal government has the conflict with Sitting Bull. 3 years later, the famous battle Little Bighorn happened. Sitting Bull and his followers won the battle. After then, Sitting Bull and his followers was forced him to flee to Canada by the White army (history.com). In 1881, he came back to United States and was forced surrendered by US Army in Montana. Then, he gained the amnesty and hope to spent his remaining years in Dakota. However, future always full of unpredictable for people. In 1889, the federal government implemented the policy stir up the Indians again. At the same time, Wovaka who was known as a prophet in Indian started the Ghost Dance movement (Historynet.com).
