Very few, if any, immigrants have the chance to learn English before traveling to the U.S. Because of this barrier, it is nearly impossible for organizations such as the Border Patrol to warn, aid, and communicate with them as they travel to the U.S. Although there are helpful signs along the border, they are written in English and are therefore indecipherable. Furthermore, the language border hinders an immigrant’s ability to survive in American society once they arrive. English is the written and spoken language in almost every city, thwarting immigrants’ opportunity to find jobs and interact with others. As they struggle to communicate, they become ostracized and do not fit in.
First of all, family make-up, ¨The American family is a democracy relatively young children are included in family decisions¨(pg86). The American family is different than others, where all opinions get considered into making decisions, which make individuals more considered for others opinions and thoughts. Understanding this won't help immigrants only in their families but also in their work places where they need to listen to others and be considered towards them. Americans tend to be open and friendly to others, when it comes to asking for help or anything else immigrants won't have any problem.

An immigrant family wants the best for everyone lives, however moving to a new country brings struggles. There struggles include finding a home, a good paying job, avoiding to be deported, being separated ,and continuing their education. Immigrants expect a better life because their old home and country did have much benefits as the new country gives them.
