There is nothing healthy about sunbaking in the sun or tanning in a solarium. The shocking truth is that 2 in 3 people in Australia will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70. 95 to 99% of skin cancers are caused by the UV rays or exposure to the sun. Although there may be alternatives to sun baking or tanning in a solarium most are extremely dangerous.
Skin cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells. Main cause is having over exposure to UV rays. Melanoma is the rarer type of skin cancer but well known. It can be life treating or even cause death. It begins when pigment cells produce colour. Most melanomas start as a mole or dark spot on the skin.
