The slam poetry Slam poetry is a spoken-word form of poetry that is largely influenced by the free verse, musical style of Beat poets like Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. It first took hold in the U.S. in the 1980’s, when open mic sessions started taking place at cafés in cities like New York, San Francisco, and Austin (Marc smith 2003). The founder of the slam poetry goes with the name of Marc Kelly Smith.in this project I will be looking on South African poetry. When she is on stage she takes her time, she does not rush line yes she shows the emotions whenever she is performing but the flow does not change she don’t shout a lot she just stand on the stage and tell her story.
