The main reason for the beginning of the Civil War focused on the slavery that infested the southern states. The North was against all forms of slavery and other different practices present in the South. The war drug on for a seemingly infinite amount of time under President Lincoln and his administration as a whole,as well as the president of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis. Although these two men made all of the most significant and pressing choices, the two men in charge on the battlefields, and perhaps a greater rivalry than the opposing presidents, were Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E.

The first main cause of the Civil War was economic differences between the Northern and Southern states. During the first few decades of the 19th century, the North had an industrial revolution that brought an economy that relied on laborers. While at the same time, the South continued to rely on slaves for their farming and the production of cotton. The Northerners did not need slaves for their economy, but the Southerners could not make any profit without cotton or slaves. In the 1860’s, the North had twice as many railroads as the South, and the South had a bigger cotton production because of their slave population (Document A).

The Civil War was a monumental bloodshed, which was fought between the United States of America and the Confederate States, from 1861 to 1865. The primary cause of the war was the Southern states' desire to preserve the institution of slavery, which did not please the beliefs of the North. At the beginning of the Civil War, twenty-two million people lived in the North and 9 million people, which included four million of whom were slaves, lived in the South. The North, led by President Abraham Lincoln and his trusted generals, had more money, more factories, more horses, more railroads, and more food than the south. These advantages made the United States much more powerful than the Confederate States, which ultimately led to Northern victory.
The Civil War, fought from 1861 to 1865, was known to be one of the most deadly wars. The destruction of the war caused many deaths and also many families to be torn apart. Several people believe that the Civil war could have been avoided and countless lives could have been saved. However, I believe that the Civil War was inevitable because of the different beliefs between the North and the South over economics and slavery. The Civil war was bound to happen because of the dissimilarities between north and south over economics.
After the efforts to gain independence from Britain and the creation of the United States of America, eighty years later this union was not so united. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, it was the first time that Americans fought Americans. Among many reasons, the Civil War is known to be a result of the arguments over the delineation of the States’ Rights or the presidential election of Abraham Lincoln. In actuality, the Civil War, the most deadly war in American history, was due to disputes over slavery in the American territories. Therefore, the Civil War was inevitable because of the consequences that occurred one being slavery.
To a greater extent, slavery was the greatest cause of the outbreak of the civil war in 1860. Disputes of slavery caused economic and political troubles between the northern and southern states leading up to the civil war. The fact the the northern and southern states were different in almost every way caused them to turn out like completely different territories, one of their greatest differences was the fact that most southern states economy relied on hard labour, agricultural jobs like tobacco in Maryland, and cotton in Virginia; this caused their economy to be more based on the labour of slaves than the more developed territories in the north (Harrold), who after this time was starting to not need the slave labour in their territories because after early 1800’s, the industrial revolution had been spreading to America, and the country developed very quickly. But in this expansion, only the north states were getting the effect of the industrial revolution, meaning the north would not need slave
The controversy over the expansion of slavery into western territory contributed greatly to the coming of the Civil War. The battle between the North and the South of maintaining the balance of free states and slave states. Many compromises have appeased yet pushed back the inevitable Civil War. In 1804 Jefferson was elected for his second term, and a year before that America had bought Louisiana.
Slavery developped in the country. The invention of the Cotton Gin led to the need of more workers which means more slaves and a terrible tension between the North and the South. The disagreement over slavery issue led to a big conflict between the two sides known as The American Civil War in which it lasted from 1861 to 1865 when Abraham Lincoln came with the Emancipation Proclamation which gave the freedom to slaves and paved the way for the Thirteenth Amendment to abolish slavery completely in the country. The confederate flag originated during the Civil War and was a symbol of the confederacy, the losing side of the war. While much has been said on what exactly was the cause of the Civil War, most historians agree slavery was the one issue which compelled it. Southerners feared government regulation of slavery and saw the outlawing of slavery as a sign that it would soon end in the south. However, the war was not exactly fought over racial inequality. (The north wanted working class white citizens to work, and if slavery continued to be allowed they would be unable to compete with the slaves.)

For example, they suffered through many whippings with cow skin if they didn't obey their master, they also got separated from their family mostly the fathers, so, they can be sold to a very mean slave owner. Even if they were living a miserable life on the farms, they had their own culture and they managed to even get married in the farmland or where they worked. Not only did the slaves live on the farm.
There were three main causes of the civil war including slavery, sectionalism and secession. Slavery was a huge part of it and it led to the Missouri Compromise where any states below the border would be slave states and the anything north of that was free states. Another major factor that led to the Civil war was the social status and views at the time. The North and South had very different social views. In the North, while a good amount of the people owned slaves, many of them began to see it as wrong and inhumane. They also began to believe that they no longer needed slaves to do work for them and that the slaves should have freedom, as well as their own rights. But even with the North beginning to want to change things, slaves were still not treated like human beings most of the time.
