Every time we hear the word “slavery,” we tend to think of something horrible that happened, but they don't know the horrendous details. Sadly slavery was happening worldwide in the 18th century. In talbot county, Maryland around 1818 Frederick Douglass was born into slavery. When Douglas was 20 he managed to escape slavery, he was well educated so that helped him in his later life. Douglas was a human rights and abolishment leader, after he escaped slavery he wrote a truly inspirational novel going in depth on his experiences being a slave and his journey to help abolish slavery his novel had a big effect towards the end of slavery his novel “ the narrative of Frederick Douglas” opened many doors, in his personal life but for human rights as well. In the beginning, Douglas was a new slave and was not very good at his new job so it was a matter of time before his master mr covey, finds a reason to beat him, since slaves offten got beat. it was fasinating to read about his personal experience as a slave, how he was treated and about how he taught himself how to read and write. He had such a hard life. It makes me recognize how privlaged i am. Immediatly when i read this i tought he was a truly a strong person to experience everything he went through and how he worked to get through it. I really like it when he says “ I felt as i never felt before.it was a glorious resurrection, from the tomb of slvery, to the heaven of freedom” this shows me that he is a hard worker because its very difficult to be released as a slave. And the fact that he wrote a novel about his experience not only says a lot but had a huge effect on the end of
