How Much Truck Do I Need?
Heavy duty trucks and tractor trailers fall under Class 7 and Class 8 vehicle. Tractor trailers fall under their heavy-duty category according to hauling capacity:
Class 7 trucks have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 - 33,000 pounds including any passengers, fuel, and cargo.

What Type of Truck Do I Need?
When it comes to truck types, there are four that you’ll need to choose from. Generally speaking, there are two choices to be made: single axle or tandem axle; and day cab or sleeper. First, will you be requiring a sleeper cab for those extra-long trips, or does a day cab fit your needs? Will you need the more nimble single axle truck, or does your cargo require a tandem axle to get the job done? Below are the different types of heavy duty truck to choose from:
Single axle truck with cab - easier to maneuver (think city-driving), pulls less weight, less parts means less maintenance. Cabs can have various configurations, but no room to sleep.
Tandem axle truck with cab - pulls heavier loads but is more cumbersome to maneuver and park. Tandem axle trucks can come with sleepers or configurable cabs.
