Smart Goals

I put forth goals this school year in PE using smart goals. Smart goals are specific goals that an individual 's set for themselves in order to challenge their athletic ability. Every four to six weeks a plan of action is produced for achieving the set goal. When setting a smart goal it is important to include a detailed description of the goal. The plan should include a description of the goal, how it will be measured, the attainability of the goal, its benefits, and the time period. I did not attend Kalaheo for the first two smart goals the class was required to do. However, I remember my main focus at the beginning of the year. I set a goal to shorten my mile time by over 15 seconds and become faster in general. Six weeks was an appropriate time period for this goal. I set this goal so that I could build my endurance for soccer. I ended up working to this goal by doing a number of exercises. My previous school’s coaches integrated a variety of training during the athletic period and at soccer practice. I relied on the coaches to discipline us to work hard in the weight room and on the field. Whether it was intense cross fit or good old fashion sprints, we were always working on getting faster. My goal was to dunk a basketball after 6 weeks of vertical training. Once again I would be attempting to achieve this goal in six weeks. I planned reaching this goal by playing basketball at least 4 times a week. Also, by going to the gym and working out my legs to get them stronger. I could dunk a tennis ball at the beginning of the six weeks. I tracked my progress by how high my hand could go above the rim. I wanted to achieve this goal so I could become not only a better basketball player, but also increase my athletic ability. I wasn 't able to achieve my goal completely. I could dunk off of an alley-oop but I failed at dunking on my own. To get there I need to continue training and work on palming the
