Our group’s code is Enterprising (E), Sociable (S) and Investigative (I) personality types. Many of us have been in the leadership position and it shows how Enterprising we are. We have out-going personalities that shows optimism and clarity in everything we do and because of that, many others are drawn to vote us as leaders. In addition to having the leadership position, we want others to have a part in the job that is why we would delegate jobs equally among everyone so that it would be fair to every member. Having the Sociable personality, we are warm and friendly people who love helping and having interaction with others. Nevertheless, majority of us lack of patience which is important in coaching. We become impatient when the coachees fail to follow our pace and meet our expectations. To counter this, we have to slow our pace down, training ourselves to take deep breaths when we get annoyed and frustrated in our daily life such as getting stuck in a traffic jam. Being patient in coaching allow athletes to improve faster and be more productive, as the impatience of the coach will stress them out and interfere their ability to perform. Most of us has developed problem sensitivity to a certain extent, in which we acknowledge the risks of behaviours or decisions before the problem actually occurs. However, we tend to realize the problem after long securitization, unable to recognize potential issues right after the action which might be devastating especially in interpersonal relationships. We can improve this by reflecting on past events to prepare ourselves for similar situations in the future. This equips us with the ability to prepare for problems instantaneously to shorten the time for the situation to deteriorate. We are capable of managing personnel resources, delegating work based on each person’s forte. However, we have only managed smaller groups, causing us to be overwhelmed when managing larger ones. To develop effective listening, we need to make effort to understand the underlying meaning of messages, not only the words. We can practise the skills by listening attentively to what the friends have said and provide feedback after they finished speaking. Active listening helps psychologists to fully comprehend the client’s message and problems which avoids misunderstanding and conflict. Majority of us have the skills of social perceptiveness. In daily conversations, we are able to detect the emotional change of people that we are talking to. Nevertheless, we are only sensitive to the obvious facial expressions and speech tones, unable to detect more subtle cues such as body language and microexpressions. We can develop the skill by reducing distractions in conversation such as avoiding phone usage and being more attentive to the underlying cues which may require extra attention and hard to adapt to at first. With deeper understanding of the client’s subtle emotions, psychologists can be more emphatic of the client’s feelings which strengthens the client-therapist bond, thus facilitating the treatment process.
