Possibilism is the view that culture is determined by social conditions. Meaning given whatever environmental conditions we are able to overcome them through knowledge, skills, technology and money. Meaning that people are as important as the environment when shaping culture. People can push the limits of what they think is possible in the environment. So as the society gets more advanced in technology it has more choices and they’re able to adapt to use their surroundings better. While Determinism is the belief that the physical environment is what determines culture rather than social conditions. That the environment is more important than people and that environment is what shapes culture. For example, Ellsworth Huntington theory stated that the economic development in a country can be predicted based on its distance from the equator. Meaning how seasons are in the country will decide it’s efficiency and success and economic growth. There was a theory made by German Geographers that your environment is what causes your social and cultural development that wherever you live your physical environment is what causes your culture to form like your language and your food all shaped by the environment. A lot of people will have different psychological feeling towards their own environment, climate, and culture. Living in tropical climates may be something good for people and others may hate it. It all depends on your own personal taste and how that effects Possiblism and Determinism is that when you think of a society and how it may shape the culture you may not always agree with it and you may get depressed and sometimes when the technology is advanced in your environment you may feel sad that humans are not doing any of the work anymore but it is all up to technology
