This infamous excerpt from the Declaration of Independence exhibits the many fallacies that the United States feeds its citizens. The only thing “evident” is the misconception that “all men” actually means “white men”. Throughout history the people in power have showed us their agenda to oppress the minorities and uplift the white race. The alt-right movement is another movement used the uplift the white race. In their attempt to “take America back” they are also refusing immigration and multiculturalism, and who better to convince than the forthcoming president, Donald Trump. One of Trotsky’s observations was that, “...the fascist solution to the capitalist crisis, is the violent seizure of power, and to radically change the conditions of production in favor of the owners of large capital.” Despite the fact that Trotsky was speaking of capitalism, the alt-right movement can use this same mechanism to approach immigration and foreign policy. If they use this mechanism for immigration and foreign policy, they can and will use it for capitalism as well. Lecture six discusses the concept of Social Darwinism. We have learned that Social Darwinism theoretically is the idea that people, groups, and races are subject to the same aspects of natural selection as Charles Darwin had identified in plants and animals. The theory of social darwinism seems to be alive in the hands of the White nationalist. Their agenda is to “take back” the country that they have claimed to work so hard for. They are implementing this by using their racist power to keep oppressing the oppressed, and keeping even more minorities out of the country.
