The film The Divide tells the story of different people that have different economic statuses. Their economic division creates a social division as well. In the film, we are introduced to a psychologist named Alden. He makes a lot of money and due to his job he has to dress decently and nicely to look professional for his clients. He wants to save money to move his family into a gated community that is safe and in a nice environment. In addition, the film introduces an American lady named Jennifer. Jennifer lives in a gated community and she explains that many of her friends do not visit her because she lives there. Jennifer mentioned that living in a gated community separates them from other people. Her husband and kids are not really happy living in this gated community because they are always judged. …show more content…

We are also introduced to a caregiver named Rochelle. She works every day and barely sees her children. She does not get time to spend with her family because when she leaves to go to work they are sleeping and when she gets back they are already in bed. Rochelle is not economically stable like Jennifer. Rochelle does not make enough money to pay her bills or rent. She mentioned that her children’s school calls her all the time in regards of her monthly payments. Just like Rochelle, Leah who works at KFC also struggles with her bills and rent. She does not make enough money to pay her bills although she is working all the time. The money she earns is not enough for her to survive. Another story that is mentioned in the film is the story of Janet. She used to own a store but had to close it after Walmart took all of her customers. She now works for Walmart as an associate. In the film, we see how stressed Janet is and how the stress causes her to forget when she is schedule to work. Walmart is changing her schedule all the
