Authors always have an impact on readers, whether they are discussing fun topics, or more serious ones, like social inequality or persecution.For example, author J.k. Rowling discussed the impacts of social inequality, while pediatricians Gwenn Schurgin O'Keeffe, and Kathleen Clark-Pearson and author S.E. Hilton discussed the impacts of persecution from bullying. They do so by making the books or reports interesting to read so that tennagers can understand the positions being presented so that they can relate it back to regular life. Author S.E. Hilton wrote “The Outsiders”, which discusses the ongoing feud between the Greasers and the Socs. Rowling discusses a different topic. The topic of social inequality. J.K. Rowling is the author of the Harry potter series, which discusses a boy who discovers he has magical powers and endures on adventures with others like him. J.K. Rowling impacted her readers when she wrote these books, by explaining that by interacting, or in some cases reading, about “in-groups” or “out groups” it can improve bad attitudes and prejudices, and her Harry Potter books repeatedly discuss this topic. Correspondingly, results from a follow-up study, which talked about what children thought of immigrants, showed how reading Harry Potter books, has improved attitudes towards homosexuals. These results are similar to those of the previous study, which discussed what children thought about immigrants, after reading passages that discussed prejudice. Those who read those passages, their answers changed, however, those who did not, their answers stayed the same. Furthermore, parents and teachers find that when they want to promote tolerance, Harry Potter books are a good source, because they are fantasy books. All in all, J.K.
