When I hear the word social justice it makes me think about promoting freedom and equality for all people regardless of their gender, age, race, and etc. On the other hand, social injustice means a situation when some unfair practices are being carried throughout society. Some issues of social justice include health, shelter, education, and food and security. Some people cannot afford health care costs and should be helped if they are employed or unemployed. IF someone is homeless they most likely are living out on the streets trying to do everything to survive. They should have more buildings to help the homeless and should help them get back on their feet. The cost of food is increasing and will probably continue to increase over the years. Some examples of social justice include racism, sexism, poverty, death penalty, and civil rights. All of these examples could treat one as feeling different and they will never be good enough.
Theater plays a role in social justice by allowing the community to come together and see that everyone is equal but different in their own way. I believe this play the Dollhouse wanted to show a form of social justice. The main idea of the play was mainly written on the issues of women. It was how a woman is treated in society by men. It showed the lack of love and respect a husband had for his wife. Also, it showed the lack of justice and dignity in the treatment of the women itself. I believe the theme in this play is whether it is a man or a woman that they need to find out what type of person he or she is and they should strive to become it. In the play it seems to show the social injustice upon women, which was inherent in the culture and attitude of the men in the nineteenth century. What stood out to me most in this play is that they thought the husband had all of the potential in the relationship while the wife just took care of the home. In this time century
