When it comes to connecting people and organizations without face to face contact social networking has become the way to do so through applications such as LinkedIn and Facebook. Since the introduction of social networks millions of users, many of whom integrated these sites into their daily practices (Ellison, 2007). These sites can be oriented towards work related contexts, romantic relationship initiation, or simply connecting the college student population to connect with people we already know or to meet new ones (Ellison, N. B., Steinfield, C., & Lampe, 2007). The use of social networks has expanded over the years since 2004 and has become a main source of communication throughout the world. In our course reading Mark Bowles brakes down how social networks came about and why it has become a revolutionary through the creation of Web 2.0. Blogs, tweeting and building business networks through the use of social networks were key points made by Bowles. The behavior of users while using social networks can be harmful to users as discussed in all three articles especially in Peta Minerof’s journal. Understanding that the world of social networking has rules that we as users must follow and can ultimately lead to criminal actions or rejection from jobs or college institutions. What is posted on social networks can always be found even if it deleted that can cause heartache to those in important positions. But as Jungwon Kuem expressed in his article social networks want to see prosocial or positive behavior of all users to avoid incidents such as cyberbullying amongst coworkers and students. We must adhere to the rules of the social networking world in order for social networks to live out to its designed potential to connect users around the world with like
