In art and architecture, many things from ancient Greece had become fashionable and this had an effect on fashion too. Skirts became narrower and waists became higher. Gowns had less lace, frills, and ruffles. Some fashions in the early 1800 's made women look much like statues of Greek goddesses!

As women’s role in society changed, the fashion trends for women also changed. Due to a dye shortage and fabric shortages during the war, a new utilitarian drabness in dress began to trend. Ever since I was allowed to date, I was taught that the man is supposed to pay for the dinner bill. The man paying the bill rule is definitely supposed to be obeyed when you are dating. The man is also supposed to open all doors and pull out the lady’s chair. Let all alone, the man is supposed to pick the lady up and drive to the date . An informal norm according to the text is a behavior that is generally widely conformed to. Men conform into the 'social norm' that it is okay to have more than one wife, and that its accepted to have slaves.
