Fashion can provide roles and comfortability for each gender. Each gender has specific qualities and social norms to them that are taught from a young age. During early civilization there wasn’t much of a difference in dress between men and women. It wasn’t until the Middle Ages that a difference came about. Women began to wear long dresses as men wore tunics with hoses. Women started to dress more attractively to obtain social power. This is because women had to find a good and rich man to marry that could support them financially. Around World War II times the norm had once again switch.
