Finally, in this novel there are certain themes that are seen such as power, social norms and education. These themes in the novel connects the liberal arts because with each theme it shows the humanity within people and multiple perspectives on the themes. After reading this novel I found it made me reflect on the power gained from education because I believe that knowledge is power. Which is why I want to learn new things and when learning I want to grasp the concepts in all of my classes. Rather than just cramming the information for a test. Although, when looking at the theme of the social norms in this novel are more closed minded. Compared to modern times where it’s more open minded to things like interracial couples and other things.
