As members of the La Salle community, it is our duty to recognize when someone is in need of help and how we can help them overcome their anxiety or stress with no judgment in order to “respect people, property [and] our University.” Being part of the La Salle community, means that our goal is to inform the upperclassmen about the different kinds of strategies and activities available on campus to help relieve their stress and anxiety. As per our SMART objectives, the group came up with three objectives, in which goes along with our goals and mission statement: 50% of students will have decreased anxiety and stress experienced through community engagement by the end of spring semester; 50% of students will develop coping strategies to overcome …show more content…

Brochures and fliers were spread throughout campus to make students aware of the possibilities that occurred on campus for when they felt stressed or anxious. The brochures were detrimental to the students as it showed them how they could relieve such stress or anxiety and how they could overcome it. The health belief model was used to assess a student’s health during stressful periods of the semester, and the deciding factor for when the events were to relieve intensity of stress and anxiety at prominent peaks. Utilized were the severity and benefits aspect of the model as they persuaded students into taking part of the program and events on campus. Barriers were also kept in mind throughout the planning and implementation as it helped create a more effective program. The physical act of yoga releases tension from muscles. Chemically, this releases endorphins which are the source of that feeling of euphoria after a great workout. This also regulates appetite and creates a better oxygen flow to the heart (Exercise To Release Stress, 1). Not to mention, on a neurological level this re-circuits the brain into thinking more logically and permits the parasympathetic system to active more readily rather than the stress circuit which pumps adrenaline but also causes high anxiety (Storoni, 2015). According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, meditation is “the act or process of spending time in quiet thought; the act or process of meditating; an expression of a person's thoughts on something”. Meditation allows us to be one with our body and mind to understand our body and what it is going through during the time of stress and anxiety. It allows mental capacity to let go of negative, unchangeable barriers and thoughts. Both yoga and meditation help relieve stress and anxiety through clearing the mind, helping us become more focused, aiding us in better prioritizing, guiding us to take a moment to the self to regain inner peace, and most of all it rewires the way we
