As a child I have always had a passion for helping people who were in need. Social work wasn’t always a chosen profession for me. However, my perspective changed in my second year of college. My sister who has a MSW in social work became my big inspiration. My sister’s compassion, and knowledge on social work gave me an open mind on the profession. That’s when I decided to set my path by enrolling into the course required for social work. I am determined to excel in this profession. As well as become a great asset to the social work community. My love for helping others is why I feel I would be the best candidate for this is program.
I decided start my pathway into my career with the Introduction to Social Work course. This courses is an excellent course that prepares me for my future career. It will introduce me to the field of social work, focusing on the social welfare, social work values, and the ethics on the Code of Ethics. The goals for this program build on skillful techniques that will help flourish in my future profession. For example being able to utilize critical thinking in sessions with my client’s. My sister was the main person who impacted me greatly throughout the years. During her internship in social work, she worked as a counselor the Women Battered Shelter. I got a chance to observer her up close with her clients. She impacted each women’s life by showing empathy towards the women’s circumstances. Witnessing the women in need of someone to listen is what empowered me to become a Social worker. I see myself helping not only women, but anyone who is in need of a positive social worker. I am passionate about working with anyone no matter their ethnicity, or religious status. I am prepared to take the necessary steps to become an accomplished social
