To be honest I never really knew that schools had social workers. When I went to school the only thing I remember having were counselors and nurses to talk too and help whenever we needed something. Now that I really think about it schools are a great place for social workers to work at and help out especially since we live in a region where poverty is high. According to Steve Clark from The Brownsville Herald, out of the 415.557 residents living in the Brownsville- Harlingen area, 36 percent live under poverty level (Clark, 2013).
