The novel Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins, and the motion picture In Time; are both set in a dystopian society where the governments are run in a totalitarian that keeps their populace alienated based on the inequality amongst the rich and poor. In the Hunger Games the societies are separated using districts were district 1 is considered prosperous and district 12 is painstaking deprived. In Time, the inhabitants are separated using time as a currency, the more you have the enhanced time zone you’ll live in whereas the inferior half live day by day. In Hunger Games citizens in the Capitol are considered weird according to Katniss, they dress in an eccentric fashion, wear extravagant makeup, and have brightly colored hair and they also have odd accents that are considered high pitched. Whereas in District 12 where Katniss is from, they are dressed in simple plain ordinary clothes, no fancy clothes expect only during the reaping. That is only the immense difference between the two Districts. However, there is a culture shock when Katniss and Peeta [the boy chosen at the reaping as well] are on the train headed to the Capitol were there presented with a great deal of food, where Katniss eat as much as she can since she’s never even seen that much. Within In Time, primary socialization happens when children in the civilization learn that they stop aging at 25 and after that time starts to work against them, the moment that the clock starts will and others say that it was a jolt of shock. Will also has a culture shock once he’s leaving his time zone, when just leaving the zones you are having to give up days, months to years in order to enter into the zones. Katniss, views the way the capitol behavior and attitudes concerning the hunger games are quite different than how it’s viewed in her district and considers that even though her district is in such poverty as least they don’t react to the games whereas the Capitol treats it as entertainment that it’s a fun and casual event. On Will’s side, he knows that the New Greenwich is on the wrong side and that they are greedy wanting all the time, when in other time zones people clock out something that his people in his prominent time zone are desensitized when it comes to walking upon a person who has clocked out, where in the dominant time zone, the just don’t care that people are suffering as long as they can live
