Socioeconomic status is something that if you let it will define your self-worth. In society we are judge on a moment to moment basis, are we clean, are we happy, do we have money, are we poor, and what do our families have? These topics are things that begin to determine your status in society, that will add up to your socio-economic status. Equity is premised upon a recognition that because all children are different there must be a deep commitment to meet the needs of every child to ensure that each student receives what he or she needs to grow and develop and ultimately to succeed (Blankstein, Noguera, & Kelly, 2016). The reason I say this is because all the children are dressed and clean. Now should a student parent send their child to school in dirty clothes we go to their cubbies to change their clothes. Maybe a parent send their child to school with hairs out of place or messy we visit the child by combing or fixing the hair. As well we have an area that has clothes that are donated in great condition that we offer to our families, so the hope is that all children look healthy and happy while in school. Now with staff we don’t wear much jewelry to prevent theft and dangerous situations, as well look like we are better than families are, we also don’t wear high end clothes and shoes, our goal is to look and act like we are all equal. My classroom has a wall of pictures that the students bring that show where they have gone, what they do at home with their families. As well we have photos about our school trips and different things we do with our students. Along with family tree photos that they children show their families. My goal of the school year is one main vision, which is the fact to include all families, students likes, joys, and adventures to their peers.
