The idea of conflict among humans has not been identified yet. As mentioned, humans are inclined to conquer anything and anyone to serve their purpose and personal interests. Humans may have learned to live with their own kind, but a new threat arises— conflict of interest. Conflicting interests are inevitable in any organization. Whether you are a bunch of cavemen fighting over limited resources or a high and esteemed organization fighting its way to stay afloat over the competition, there will always be a conflict of interest. Humans learned the hard way that conflicting interests can become a threat to their own survival.

More and more conflicts of interest arose which eventually lead to more compromise and agreements which eventually became laws. The laws aimed for the common good of both the strong and the weak. It may not be perfect and fair, but as long as the group acknowledges that it is for everyone’s benefit, the order will remain in place. And this is how the concept of Social Contract came into being. He was accused of multiple crimes mainly because of his radical views and ways that eventually led to his arrest. Growing up, he was protected by the same laws from threats and enemies. And when he reached adulthood and still chose to stay in Athens, he said that he had explicitly implied that he continues to subject himself under the same laws. And therefore, he had accepted that the laws are just, and it is only appropriate for him to be arrested, prosecuted, and even sentenced to death if deemed justified by the very same laws that allowed his existence (Friend, 2017).

This also added a new meaning to the Social Contract. The member of the group or the society must accept and hold himself obligated to fulfil and comply with the existing laws aimed to achieve the common good. This is to repay the benefits and rights achieved by the individual because of the very same laws. A state is nothing without its laws. Humans had to honor the agreement (Arshadnejad, 2015).

As previously mentioned, the concept of Social Contract came into being the moment the group or the society acknowledges that the laws and policies being implemented are for the common good. However, Socrates introduced an additional concept to the Social Contract. His acceptance of the laws of Athens as just implied
