Softball and volleyball are two very different sports. I have played both sports before and from experience, I can honestly say that they were very different from each other. The two sports do not have much in common but both come with tough challenges.
First of all, there are nine players and nine positions on a softball field. Those nine positions are left field, center field, right field, first base, second base, shortstop, third base, pitcher, and catcher. All those nine positions are important and critical to the game. When you are on defense those nine players are the only ones allowed on the field. The corners which are first and third base are the toughest positions and most dangerous. Cleats, catcher equipment, bats, balls, and gloves are the basic necessities for softball. You also need a bucket of balls, hitting nets, and a pitching machine used during practice and warm-ups. Catchers equipment protects the catcher from getting any major injuries behind the plate. Cleats are appropriate because they give you better traction on the dirt so you don’t slip all over the place. Balls and bats put the whole game in play. You also need a glove to be able to stop and catch the ball. The hitting machine and hitting nets are for you to practice hitting so you can get better at it. You need all this equipment to succeed in softball. Softball rules include the following, the distance of the baselines must be sixty feet. The pitcher’s mound to home plate must be forty-five feet. A team is only done batting after three outs have been made. You only earn points if a runner crosses home plate. Only nine players can be on the field at a time. Any ball going outside the first and third base line is a foul ball. Pitchers must pitch the ball underhand. Runners may not lead off early. One base runner can not pass another base runner that is ahead of them. Those are just a few rules that are
