A desperate minister tries to save his late father’s softball team, but it causes him to “borrow” money from the church. . BRIEF SYNOPSIS: DENNY CLARK (42) is a minister, separated from his wife, and captain of the church’s softball team. On the team are JIMMY DEAN (44) and cousins REBO JOHNSON and BO JOHNSON. The men bicker and argue on the field, which breaks out into a brawl. The men are arrested and thrown into jail. Denny meets with the church leaders, MARY PATRICK and RON FARMER. They decide to suspend financial support to the team. They will have to find a new sponsor. Denny wants to keep the team alive. It’s his father’s legacy and it means everything to Denny. Denny decides they need to win the games and he recruits new players. Denny approaches SPARXX (32), an alcoholic, construction worker crushing softballs in the batting cage. Sparxx will only play if he’s paid. Denny agrees. The team still loses. Denny’s team plays against his arch rival, TOMMY MSENGILL, a former high school classmate. They lose again. Denny tells the team they can’t be drinking. Denny picks up his nephew LUKE (17) from juvenile hall and becomes his guardian. Denny teaches Luke about respect. They both need a fresh start. The situation, however, spirals out of control when Denny recruits more players – illegal aliens and he has to pay them to play. He begins to “borrow” money from the church’s fund to cover the cost. Jimmy becomes upset with Denny and quits the team. Jimmy calls for Denny’s resignation from the team and the church.
