A big theme in Something Wicked This Way Come By Ray Bradbury is Pipe Dreams. “A pipe dream is a wish or dream that is impossible to achieve or not practical” (Merriam- Webster ) They show it through the book by telling you the character's biggest dreams. The bar owner wanting to be rich and the teacher wanting to be young and beautiful. The paraplegic who wants to be a professional baseball player. Than when the carnival comes the workers let them have their greatest dreams for a little bit but then trap them in the carnival as new acts. Will's dad has to get over the fact he wants to be younger so he can be like the dads who play ball with there kids to save the town before he gets trapped by the carnival. Crosetti and Mr. Tetley had more unpractical dreams. Mr. Crosettie was the barber who dreamed of exsotic girls and always told fake stories about the ones he “met”. Mr. Tetley was the Cigar Store who wanted to become a millionaire buy winning the lottery. The circus people knew this and they had exsotic dancers that took Mr. Crosetti backstage and no one saw him after that.
