The song “Believe” is sung by Brooks and Dunn, the song is told from the perspective of a man reflecting on his childhood and the time he spent with his neighbor. The beat of the song is sad and it sets the tone for the song as the story that the boy tells about Old Man Wrigley goes on. This song is significant to me because my parents and family would listen to it a lot especially when there was a sad moment that happened in our lives.
The tone behind the song is sad as it talks about the friendship that this old man shares with the growing boy, with tones that uplift the songs in parts that are more cheerful. The song tells the story of this boy growing up and his neighbor who he calls Old Man Wrigley and how they formed a bond over time. In the song it is revealed that the old man had lost his wife and son, when the boy asks how he is able to deal with the grief of losing them he tells him that it's his faith in god that will let him see them again in heaven one day. Towards the end of the song it is revealed to the boy that the old man has passed, he then reflects on the times that they shared together and the lessons that the old man taught him.
