I Robot, directed by Alex Proyas, is a film that shows how modern technology will advance within the years; making people question their everyday lifestyle. In I Robot, the main character Detective Del Spooner, had us follow his journey on questioning societal expectations. Therefore, this caused a domino effect which made Dr. Susan Calvin question everything she grew up learning, along with studying. This all began from the creation that Dr. Alfred Lanning, who created the robots as well as the Virtual Interactive Kinetic Intelligence, referred to as V.I.K.I. Sonny was unique and had a different purpose than other robots. He was one that was able to learn how to help people while showing emotion and thought. Sonny “felt” that he could learn and develop his emotions deeper because his maker programmed him to be able to do so. Since he was different from the other robots, Detective Del Spooner slowly grew to like him. Fortunately, Sonny showed Det. Del Spooner that he was there to help him out, to be on his side and protect him. Det Del Spooner came to know about Sonny when he was trying to discover who killed Dr. Lanning. His conclusion of the murder was that a human couldn’t have murdered him because the glass that Dr. Lanning fell out of was bullet proof. The conclusion is that only a robot could have made such an impact and broken it. This made him assume that the murder robot was still in the room. That is when Sonny got up and ran, disobeying any orders given to him. This scene made Dr. Calvin realize that Det Del Spooner was correct with his ideas and thoughts about robots. For a long time Dr. Calvin stood by her beliefs, as the rest of society, saying that robots could not break the three laws. She joined him on his journey to uncover the death of Dr. Lanning. Since the advancements and new programming, she turned all robots against humans. Det Del Spooner showed his boss and others that he was right about the robots all along. This opened many eyes to see that they practically handed the world into the robot's hands while they sat back and let them do it. No one believed that the robots would be able to go around the three laws until they saw it themselves and then it was too late. Sonny also went against the rules, he didn't follow V.I.K.I like the other robots. Sonny also worked with Det Del Spooner in figuring out what was happening with the robots. They learned that V.I.K.I was using the robots to create an army to rebel against
