Unlike public health professionals who have visited PBH 301 and other people on the Child Development Studies team, Sophie Hartwig had a less convoluted path into public health. She attended Berry College and intended to study English, but then she realized she could not get a stable career with an English degree. Thus, she majored in psychology and Spanish and minored in English. After graduating college, she worked with children and families at the Marcus Autism Center and then applied to psychology and public health programs. Sophie decided to obtain an MPH because she liked the broader aspect and the greater impact of public health. She has worked on a Spanish translation project in which she and the team have reviewed materials, made sure translation is correct, and made sure cultural references make sense. She has also helped with improving materials utilized in the program and putting materials together. Sophie has also helped with program training and she had an interesting experience. The Legacy team wanted to train the interventionists and so, the Legacy team invited approximately 40 mothers to the CDC. In short, they had to clear all the mothers and arrange hotels and transportation for them, which was not as easy as it seemed. In contrast to the ADHD work in the team, Sophie stated that the Legacy for Children program has not been criticized because the end goal is to help parents and children through behavioral changes. However, she admits it is difficult to teach about parenting because parenting itself is challenging. In terms of the new presidency affecting her work, she did not comment much except that they will do their best to continue their work. Sophie has enjoyed her implementation work at the CDC, but she also wants to conduct research. She would like to work on research methodology, data collection (e.g., working with families), and
