The book Uninvited, by Sophie Jordan, should not be on the shelves of the library not because the theme is irrelevant but because this is not how serious topics such as mental health and self-identity should be tackled, the author is just trying to be edgy and has no idea what she is talking about. It trying to differentiate the “old” Davy from the new Davy is extremely hard the two are eerily similar. With all her old friends leaving and acting like she does not exist she gets people telling her it “feels as if you died” like “because she is a carrier”, Tory her ex-best friend is the person that causes most of her pain with calling the police on her, to instigating the fight between her and Zack, her best friend turned on her because she was genetically different. The pacing of the book felt very rushed, and like Jordan was trying to fit too many things into a short book. It feels like she did not care about writing the book like she just wrote the book for money. She put Davy through some tough traumatic experiences but moves on like nothing happened if you ever had something traumatic happen to you it does not just disappear it affects you mentally. Jordan just kept adding more and more unnecessary events and details that do not contribute to the story, like the fact that she can play any instrument that she wanted to without knowing how to play
