Sarah Wixted World Cultures 10/30/15 Mr. Lynn South Korea vs USA The United States is one of the most “developed” countries in the world. Even if we are ranked highly in things, it seems like the education is not one of the best things about this country. Education system in South Korea is one of the best in the world. The education system in South Korea is better and leads students to more success due to higher test scores, parent involvement, teachers dependability and the high expectations to strive to be great. The schools that the kids go to in South Korea are highly test driven. There are many exams they must take to be in schools not just college. We have the ACTS, SATS etc.. but they do not entirely determine whether we get into a college. In South Korea they MUST pass. There are so many exams that you would have to take to even get into a high school. The pressure for students to succeed is greater to the point people debate on running away or committing suicide...But these tactics are also very successful and the kids that do succeed accomplish great things that can …show more content…
They only hire the best of the best and “the field of teaching is highly competitive in South Korea. The teachers in South Korea have a high social status and high pays” (ncee). Teacher quality is so much better in South Korea than other places around the world. In South Korea, the Ministry is responsible for hiring school teachers. The district hires teachers in the US and they are not alway high on quality and knowledge. “The proportion of all South Korean teachers that are fully certified and hold bachelor's degrees is among the highest in the world”(ncee). In the US teachers do not get paid as much and do not need to go through intense training. It is proven that, when the teachers are better the students performance is better.
