The church is a physical manifestation of God’s Kingdom on earth, it is a community that is made up of men and women who have accepted salvation, turned from their sinful lifestyles, and have entered into a covenant relationship with God. The church of God is not defined by denominations, buildings, or ministries but by people who are completely dedicated and committed to being proficient witnesses and representatives of Christ. As the people of God, the church both locally and globally is made up of, “Those who are sanctified in Jesus Christ and called to be His holy people.” (1 Corinthians 1:2) They are the ones who accept salvation and were given new identities and an inheritance in Christ. They pledge their allegiance, loyalty, and faithfulness to Him, and He in return takes pride in them, protects them, and makes them heirs. In addition to this another, Trinitarian Images of the church is, it is the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27), this means that believers are now connected to Christ, “For He is the head of the body.” (Colossians 1:18) Christ as the head serves the body as a source of strength, truth, and life. The local and global church function as an extension of Christ’s ministry, it is His representative on earth. The third Trinitarian Image of the church is, it is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16), this means that the presence of God is evident in the church both on a local and global level. He sees His beloved bride, whom He sacrificed everything for. But He also sees her faults and blemishes, this does not deter Him from loving her and for supporting her through her trails. The love that Christ has for His church, He sets it as an example for the husband and his wife to pattern after (Ephesians 5:25). This means that believers need to view the church through the filters of Christ and realize that the church is under Divine ownership.
