As summer approaches, the beach is on the mind of many vacationers. But with so many great locations to choose from you may be wondering, "What are the top 5 beach destinations for 2016?" With hundreds of beaches along America's East Coast, it's no wonder that making one choice is so hard.

Here are a few great beach destinations for a relaxing vacation along America's Atlantic Coast:

This Beach is on the tip of the South Fork Peninsula on Long Island. The Atlantic hotspot, that's only 118 miles from Midtown Manhattan has six state parks to explore. Take a break from the pristine beach, and visit the nearby Montauk Point Lighthouse for an unobstructed view of the Atlantic Ocean and Long Island.

Nauset Beach, East Orleans, Massachusetts. The beautiful one-mile long beach along the Cape Cod National Seashore in Eastham, Massachusetts is smaller than the other destinations.
