SIU Carbondale is a Division One College in Southern Illinois. Group B – Question #2 Thomas Edison had huge impacts on the United States. Not just because he brought electricity to all parts of the country or because he created the high-powered phonograph, but because he also had an influence on the modern business world. Because of Thomas Edison the business and industrial realm were able to merge with science. In the United States, modern technology had an evident distinction between industrial America and the American home before Thomas Edison came into the picture.
The success of this system has led to future projects including a project in Mount Sterling that will use a microgrid to provide twenty-four hour a day service to a communications tower. This microgrid will be not only more reliable and less costly because of the elimination of traditional power poles and wires; it will also allow thirteen acres to return to its natural state. This is due to the fact that the land is currently used as a utility corridor, but after the project it will no longer be needed. Furthermore, in Maryland Duke Energy has plans to construct two microgrids that will be used for public safety facilities. The two systems will include solar and combined heat and power, which saves energy by using waste heat from on-site generation
electric company. The program is brought to Alberta classrooms and communities via a 40-foot motorhome and delivers educational programs about Alberta’s energy resources and energy efficiency (ATCO Energy Sense, “Energy Education”, n.d., para 3). The programs are designed for grade 4 science and social studies curriculum. The program is administrated through ATCO EnergySense, an arm of ATCO, and is managed by two coordinators. The program also provides a range of teacher and resources including an energy landscape game, teacher resources geared towards electricity and power.
BCU is one of the largest credit union in Australia. Their mission is, “We will care for our Members' needs with efficiency, integrity, and interest. We will provide the communities in which we operate access to an innovative, relevant and integrated product range. These products and services will be provided in a mutually beneficial cost structure that encourages growth and development both for Members and the Credit Union” (2009).
I have a 2.65 GPA currently before I transferred to SGU I had a 3.0 GPA. I believe moving off campus will help me promote the mission because it will help me focus on what matters the most to me which is my academics, communal, and spiritual growth as a Christian. Before I came to SGU I had great grades, doing things for the community, and being able to be with my local church. I wasn't living on campus while at my last school so I could focus more on my school and God. I will explain why this is important to me and for my life to live off campus.

Beal, and John Wilkie bought 2 companies that provided electricity and gas to 5,000 customers in the Newburgh, New York area. These 3 men recognized the need for the integration of the many separate electric and gas companies serving the region. Over several years they have merged 80 plus independent electric and gas companies. While Central Hudson Electric originated in Newburgh it has grown to become a monopoly in the Central Hudson region with the merger of all these independent electric and gas companies. The company achieves success when they can save energy or reuse energy sources. They have focused a lot on being able to preserve energy sources and the usage of the energy in the electricity. An example of how the electric cooperatives are saving energy is that they are doing solar project. These solar projects are growing in size and scope. According to, “America’s electric cooperatives,” the NRECA announced that the addition of four non for profit member owned electric cooperatives to a nationwide initiative that is expanding the nation's solar footprint.

1A) The Energy Department mission is “ to ensure America’s security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions”. They address the America’s energy by constantly looking to have the latest in clean energy technology and constantly looking the improve America's energy system. They also are involved in nuclear defense and security, and nuclear clean up. The Office of Environmental Management deals with the environmental impact of the organization.
Edison believed AC to be too dangerous to put in homes, and Tesla wanted to prove him wrong and left the company. Tesla finds George Westinghouse to invest and he tells people that it isn't dangerous and can light a house for a quarter of what Edison and Morgan can. Tesla and Edison found themselves in a battle when Niagara Falls was building the largest power station in the world but, was unable to decide whether it should be run on AC or DC. Eventually the company picks DC and Morgan immediately wanted to take revenge. Morgan threatens Westinghouse with a lawsuit knowing he cant afford it and begins buying shares of the company until he has complete control.
