I would like to attend the Southern University Agricultural and Mechanical College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to pursue a career in Promotions, Management & Marketing. Southern University to me is more than an institution; it's a part of my culture. The Jaguar Nation is inevitably a part of my heritage. My mother and my mother's mother all went to Southern, along with the majority of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I practically grew up as a Jaguar; dressed in blue and gold for homecoming, tailgating on the yard with my family, and jamming along with the Human Jukebox at nearly every Bayou Classic. Not only is Southern U apart of my family's history, the college also plays an important role in African-American history. Southern University has a “legacy of more than 130 years of excellence in higher education.” (“President-Chancellor's Office”) Additionally, “The Southern University System has become one of the nation's rising stars in graduate and undergraduate level education through quality undergraduate, graduate, professional, and research programs…” (“Student Affairs & Enrollment Management”) Being an accredited institution, SU would be the ideal college to attend to gain a bachelor’s in marketing and management relations. As far as tuition, according to Big Future by The College Board, the average cost after financial aid for students receiving grant or scholarship aid, as reported by the Southern University campus is an estimated $16,016 for out-of-state applicants. (“Southern University A&M College”) To apply to Southern, “Applicants must have a total of 19 core curriculum units and a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.0; a minimum ACT English score of 18 or Math score of 19.” (“Academics and
