One of the benefits Eastern Europe provided to the Soviet Union could be viewed from an economic perspective. Due to the fact that the USSR was heavily involved in the war, there were massive economic damages, based on these facts; they needed Eastern Europe to help facilitate their recovery. Firstly, one of the economic advantages provided by the region was resources. The region was made to supply the soviets with various resources, countries regardless of whether they were allied or axis were given similar treatment and where all required to put in substantial assistances to hasten the USSR recovery. These reparations were used to reindustrialize the USSR. In the sense that the bit and parts that were collected from the region where used to replace or rebuild the damaged buildings and industries in the USSR. In 1950 soviet occupied portion of Germany brought to the attention of the USSR that the area had been deindustrialized due to the seizures and sizable contributions. By having reliable soviet systems in Eastern Europe; the USSR were able to gain an increase among its trade partners. With the implementation of the Molotov plan, Soviet Union was involved in majority of trades that occurred around Eastern Europe, as the plan was based on direct trading with the USSR meaning the soviet gained massively. These trades that occurred between Eastern Europe and Soviet Union further helped the recovery of the Soviet Union. The unlimited backing provided during meetings that involved the international organisations like the United Nations were invaluable for the Soviet Union in pushing their foreign policies in the international environment. An example of this can be seen from the polish nation significant part in involving the USSR as one of the representatives of the Vietnam ICC (international control committee) as well as involving the Soviet Union as one of the participants of the peace keeping force that was allocated to the Middle East. Also Eastern European nations served as fronts to mask the involvement of Soviet Union in various matters. In order not to either draw unnecessary attention, attract criticism or viewed as the perpetrators from its citizens and the outside world; the USSR would restrict visibility by using other countries to carry out its plan. An example of this can be seen in Czechoslovakia where it served as the surface channel for weapon provision. Another example would be the origination of the Warsaw pact from the polish nation.
