Space, the final frontier, has been a mystery to humans throughout time. For 50 years we, as a planet have been trying our own ways for getting off of this planet and launching straight into the stars. Exploration of space is important to this planet as a whole because we could reap many benefits, if any from distant galaxies or even from our own solar system in the future. Many people will ask if space exploration was really important to begin with. They will believe that everything they would ever need is here on planet earth and that Man was never supposed to leave earth at all. The mere thought that space was not even important to our president will be enough to persuade the American people and possibly many space programs around the …show more content…
After the Apollo missions began getting underway, a whole generation of children and adolescents began to be inspired to become astronomers and astronauts. These very children wanted to be a part of that exploration and wanted to make it possible for these shuttles, rockets, and satellites to leave earth and explore things we could never imagine. Without this inspiration of space exploration, many of today’s astronauts would probably lead very different lives. Some may have chosen different careers to purse and might have never gotten to receive the prestigious offer of being able to travel through the stars in Space. With Space exploration continuing we’ll receive more and more children being inspired to be a part of an interstellar …show more content…
Some elements such as the Helium-3 isotope, which is used for nuclear fusion research are very rare to find here on Earth. In space, however, there are possible stockpiles of these materials that are just waiting to be harvested and put to use on our planet. On the moon alone are vast quantities of Helium-3, Europium, and Tantalum, which are needed here to put to use in electronics and the building of solar panels. If these materials are harvested major companies will be able to produce more than they could with the current resources. More energy efficient light bulbs could be produced using Europium and more prosthetic bones sections can be made with Tantalum. There is also talk of some private companies who are intent on extracting space materials from asteroids and turning it over for a profit or using the materials for their own
