Did you know that the Aztecs and the Spanish were both imperialist and expansionist people. Did you also know that in their respective areas they were the most powerful. The Mexicans now known as ,Aztecs, had a violent war with the Spanish who was led by a conquistador,Hernan Cortés, during the 1500’s in the place now known as Mexico. The Spanish were in search of gold which was one of the reasons that had led to the attack. The Spaniards and the Aztecs both were powerful especially during war. In this essay weaponry, military tactics, and reasons for war will be covered in this essay based on the Aztecs and Spanish.

Firstly, the Aztecs and Spanish both had weapons but the Spanish had the advantage which caused them to destroy the Aztecs. The Spanish had swords, pikes, and halberds that were as sharp as razor and used for swinging and chopping. These weapons would be used on horses. Some more weapons like the bows and crossbows could shoot long distances like more than 650 ft. All these weapons could destroy the Aztec armour. The Aztecs had fought in wars because they wanted to conquer other lands and become the most powerful. They also fought wars because they wanted capture the enemies and use them for sacrificial purposes, that’s why they would hurt the enemy and then capture them as prisoners and sacrifice them. The Spaniards had fought in war because they also wanted to conquer lands and become the most powerful. The Spaniards were in search of gold and other valuable minerals.
