Sometimes, it takes someone a lot of courage to speak up and for others it takes some patience to listen to those who needs them to listen. Laurie Halse Anderson’s novel Speak, tells a story about a freshman student named Melinda Sordino in her point of view. First, her time in high school isn’t off to a great start. Prior to the beginning of the novel, a summer end party was held before the start of secondary school when suddenly Melinda contacted the cops due to an unidentified incident between her and a popular senior student named Andy Evans.
