Some of the factors that will allow Sam have a long term success in the classroom, include making Sam feel safe, respected and included. Moreover, I will make Sam understand the effect of his behavior when he is acting inappropriately since this in turn can affect his learning. In addition, I will motivate Sam to behave appropriately since that would improve his success in the classroom. As a teacher, I will maintain high standards for academics and behavior for all students and will maintain a positive and supportive outlook on inclusion. No one person can claim sole responsibility for motivating another person. As educators we must deliver instruction to meet every student’s needs, and offer openings for student interest. I will also motivate Sam by showing him that he can be successful in the classroom. In addition, I will differentiate instruction to meet the Sam’s needs by adjusting the corresponding class work to the appropriate levels, by condensed coursework, additional response time or enrichment activities.
