Speech On Being Left Handed

“Being left-handed shows a connection with the devil.” These hurtful words were spoken to me by my first-grade teacher Mrs. Dominguez in 2003.
To this day it astonishes me that a teacher would say something as misinformed as that. What is so wrong about being Left-handed? When I was in my first grade year at Austin Elementary school in Pecos, Texas my opinion of writing was forever changed because of the fact that my teacher was raised in a culture where it was believed that being left-handed was wrong and that it also showed a connection with the devil so at the young age of six years old I had to change from being left-handed to right-handed at beginning of the school year my teacher passed out a sign in sheet as I sat in the front row center seat I signed the sheet left-handed little did I know that I would soon have to learn to be right handed My teacher asked me to stay the class for a few minutes but she didn 't tell me why she wanted me to stay after class so as I waited for the rest of the class to leave I was very nervous and was thinking thoughts why am I being asked to stay after class did I do something wrong is she going to call my folks and when I went to the front of the room to the teacher 's desk to ask why she wanted me to stay she told me that she wanted to know why I signed my name with my left hand I simply stated "I signed the sheet left handed because I am left handed" my thought was then “why is she asking me this is it wrong to write left-handed?”
